In case you missed it, we were recently featured in The Age! (proud Spoony moment 💪)
Our co-founder and CEO, Nicholas Carlton (or Nick, to us!), shared his journey with social isolation and loneliness due to his chronic illness. Diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia a few years ago, Nick knows firsthand the challenges of feeling socially isolated, which inspired him to create Spoony.
The article highlighted the growing rates of loneliness and social isolation, especially among neurodivergent, chronically ill, and disabled folk. It also showcased how our dedicated team, many with lived experiences, are tackling this issue head on.
We're proud to report that since launching the beta version of Spoony, our users have experienced a 25% reduction in loneliness - which honestly blows our mind! We still have a long way to go though, and we can't wait to see all of the new connections that will be formed when we launch to the App Store in just a couple of weeks.
