Community Spotlight - meet Krystal! 👋

At Spoony, community is our core. We are deeply committed to connecting with our users and followers, actively participating in conversations, and truly listening to your voices. Every week, we’ll feature a conversation with a fellow Spoony, sharing their unique story and experiences.

This week we're talking to Krystal from Queensland. Thanks for sharing your story!

Are you neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or disabled?

Neurodivergent and chronically ill.

What barriers have you experienced in making friends and connecting with people?

It’s been hard to make friends and connections because of invisible chronic illnesses that people don’t understand and years of masking mental health issues and neurodivergence. I’ve struggled with agoraphobia due to social anxiety and avoided leaving the house because I feared my body couldn’t handle it.

I’ve felt alienated from society because of my experiences with chronic illness and mental health issues. I am working on myself every day though 💜

What's been your experience on Spoony so far?

I live in Australia and started messaging a fellow Spoony from the UK and now we are going to be pen pals, which is very exciting. I was inspired by how she shared her art and hobbies. It’s made me more creative, reminded me of what makes me happy and made me feel less alone for wanting to write old fashioned letters.

Each week we'll feature a Spoony from our amazing community. If you'd like to share your story, let us know here.
